A secret entrance to a fantastic steak restaurant in Corn Exchange.
S noticed this place from several food bloggers in Manchester, and steak is one of S’s favourite food. Hence, S found out there’s a fantastic set deal for 2 courses and a gin which only costs £15! S was certainly gonna pay there a visit!
The entrance to this place was quite difficult to find and it took S a while to find it. The entrance is not inside of the corn exchange building but instead outside around the back. Since it was quite dark at night, the sign of the restaurant wasn’t too obvious to see either. Once you find the entrance and go down to the restaurant, the decor will really catch your eyes! It was really stylish and spacious, also it links to the symbol of Manchester – the bee by all the honeycomb and hive designs.
They have updated their menu on their website. The menu S went for that day was £15 for a gin and 2 courses set. The starters S had today were French onion soup and Scottish smoked salmon. The onion soup was sweet and lovely, even for S who didn’t really like onion found it quite tasty. S loves salmon of any type, and this Scottish smoked salmon was just delicious!
The main that day was 250g rump steak medium rare. The way of cooking steak was quite different compared to The Grill on New York Street. As you can see on the top of steak was garlic butter which gave the flavour to steak. You don’t need any extra salt or pepper for the taste. Moreover, the steak had a nice crispy sear on the outside, but was tender enough inside.
Overall, S would certainly come here again to try the standard menu for a different cut of steak. Moreover, the gin selection here is also quite extraordinary as you can find some local and interesting gins such as Manchester gin. Hence, if you’re looking for a good steak with a good price or a gin lover like S, you should really go check it out!
