A popular bagel shop in East London that you cannot miss!
Brick Lane is famous for its graffiti, street art and various markets in East London. There’s a totally different vibe compared to the rest of London. S has heard about this place so many times whenever she heard about where to eat in Brick Lane. Hence, S had to try it to understand why it’s so popular.
There are 2 bagel shops in Brick Lane. One has a white sign with Beigel Bake, and the other has a yellow sign with Beigel Shop. Furthermore, these 2 shops are just right next to each other, so what’s the difference? Apparently they are both from the same family, and the Beigel Bake is the original one; while the Beigel Shop is branched out and owned by the other brothers. Most people say that Beigel Bake wins out in any taste comparisons. Therefore, Beigel Bake was the one S tried that day.
The menu is on the wall and you can see the price is quite reasonable The staff here was a bit rude or rushed since there were just too many people. At the same time, it made the whole process go faster and smoother, so the wait was pretty short considering how busy it was. The most popular bagel, the salt beef beigel (£4.5), was the one S had that day. While S was waiting in line, the fresh baked bagels came out of the kitchen non-stop with an amazing smell of it.
You can choose if you want pickle and mustard with your bagel. The mustard was absolutely delicious and went so well with the salt beef. Most importantly was that the bagel was fluffy and chewy with a very nice texture. Moreover, the salt beef was super tender and not dry at all! The portion of the bagel was rather reasonable since it was only £4.5 and you can have 2 big chucks of salt beef and a fresh bagel with it.
The shop is opened 24/7 which means you can visit here anytime and can always have something if you want some snacks. The salt beef bagel is definitely a must try here, however, S would also like to try their smoked salmon with cream cheese next time. If you’re in the neighbourhood, why not just pop-in and try this Jewish style bagel, you sure will be amazed!
