The Best Churros in Barcelona – Xurreria Trebol

Some must try churros from one of the oldest churreria in Barcelona

If you ask someone about the Spanish pastry, churros is definitely something that will be mentioned. This place was not only recommended by the hotel staff but also it was claimed to be the best churro place in Barcelona by the local review. Xurreia Trebol is located in Gracia, and it’s not far from the Diagonal metro station and the La Pepita.

The place is not big which only has few chairs and a little bar for you to sit. Most people order to take away instead of eating in. As you can see there were so many pastries on the counter. There is not just the churros in Xurreia Trebol is known from, but also their filling churros which have dulce de leche (creamy caramel sauce), croquettes, and other delicacies.

The menu is on the wall which is only in Spanish, yet you can kind of guess some of them. S direly went for the classic standard combination, churros and hot chocolate. You can get it as a set for €4. The staff was friendly and everything was pipping hot when they gave it to S.

You will get a little cup of hot chocolate and about 5-6 pieces of churros when you order from the set. The hot chocolate was nothing like what S imagined, the texture of the hot chocolate was quite thick which almost look like a chocolate dip. S was quite surprised with the churros since S had it before somewhere else and didn’t really like it. The churros from Xurreia Trebol were thicker and crunchier than S expected. Moreover, it wasn’t too sweet for the hot chocolate so it was perfect to eat it with the churros which already had some sugar on top of it.

Overall, Xurreia Trebol definitely has changed S’s opinion on churros, S would love to try more next time when she visit Spain. The most notable point for Xurreia Trebol is that they open 24 hours on Saturday which is a perfect after party treat. S can’t wait to go to Barcelona again soon just to try some of their chocolate and stuffed churros!
