The most important meal of the week – Sunday roast!
A classic good Sunday roast should have a big Yorkshire pudding, lots of meat and delicious gravy. Volta definitely ticks all the boxes. Volta is located in the heart of West Didsbury on Burton Road which is close to Rustik Cafe Bar. They have some outdoor seating which will be awesome when the weather is a bit warmer.
The staff was really nice and friendly; however, the manager was not as welcoming compared to their staff. The reason that there’s no interior photos for this place was because the manager said that you need to email ahead of visiting to take the photos of interior with no other reasons provided. Therefore, S found that was a bit odd and confusing.
There are different menus for different days of the week, and Sunday menu was the one S tried that day. As for Sunday roast, you can either have a sharing platter or have individual plate like S had. Roast beef (£15) and roast pork (£14) were the ones S ordered that day with some extra crackling (£1).
As you can see from the pictures, their Yorkshire pudding was HUGE! The greens were fresh and well cooked. The size of the meal was good; yet the portion of the mash was tiny compared to the other portions. S would say that the best part of the meal was their gravy which was thick and tasty, and it is definitely the icing on the cake!
It was recommended as one of the best Sunday roasts in Manchester. However, S thinks it’s a bit overhyped. The food was good with an acceptable price, but the manager definitely detracted from the dining experience. Overall, you should absolutely try it once, it might just be your cup of tea.
