A perfect date night choice to go in the city centre of Manchester.
Don’t know where to go for a date night? Want to go somewhere with classic decor and meal? Brown Restaurant can definitely meet your needs. Brown Restaurant is located close to Piccadilly Garden which is about 3 mins walk from the bus stop and the tram station. The sign of the restaurant is easy to see once you’re close.
Once you get inside the restaurant, you can see the bar area and the seating area which are homely and vintage. The interior is spacious with an extra tall ceiling which gives this place a relaxing feeling. The dining area is in the back behind the bar, which needs to be leaded by the staff.
There are lunch/early evening menu and regular menu for you to choose, and today S chose the lunch/early evening menu with three courses(£15/person).
First came the starters, we ordered the soup of the day and duck liver parfait. The soup has quite a strong pepper taste but overall the taste is nice. As for the duck liver parfait, the restaurant is really generous with the portion of duck liver, however, there’s not enough bread to finish it.
British mussels and frites and Steak frites are the main courses for tonight. S didn’t expect much for British mussels but it turned out surprisingly good. The steak itself was tender with garlic taste which it didn’t really need any extra sauce, although the staff would offer you the choices.
Finally, we got Chocolate truffle torte and Apple & rhubarb crumble for dessert. To be honest, we were already quite full at this stage, and we barely can finish the desserts. Not to mention, the size of the desserts was also quite generous. S usually prefer chocolate is more rich than sweet, and so is this chocolate truffle torte which is not too sweet but has a rich flavour of chocolate. Apple & rhubarb crumble is also quite amazing, the sweetness of the ice cream and the caramel sugar decoration with the strong apple flavour, it’s difficult to not to like this dish!
Generally speaking, Brown Restaurant is an excellent choice for a date with a reasonable price and quality, the atmosphere of the restaurant is nice and cozy. Moreover, the staff is super friendly and helpful. Certainly would visit here again to try different things like the afternoon tea menu.
