24/7 superb dishes with an amazing view of London!
Duck and Waffle has always been on S’s list of must-eat-brunch places in London, today S finally got the chance to try it. The entrance is quite small and easy to miss if you don’t pay attention, so it took S some time to find when S visited here the first time.
There will be staff at the reception right after you enter, and they’ll ask to check your bag. After arriving at the 40th floor, you will see the bar area first and you can have a drink here and stay as long as you like. Since there’s 1 hour restriction for dining, you can sit here and enjoy the view after the meal.
The tables which are close to the windows are generally for 2 people or 6 people. However, don’t worry if you’re not sitting next to the window, you can still see clearly from the seat. Moreover, there’s a little space next to the window which allows people to take photos of the view.
S visited here twice and both were in the morning since S thinks it’s more beautiful in the morning. However, the night view definitely will give another vibe which is worth seeing. You can see the Tower Bridge and the Gherkin and all of London right beneath you.
The menus differ depending on the time of the day. S has tried the famous duck and waffle (£18), duck benedict (£15) and seasonal fruit salad (£7). Seasonal fruit salad was relatively disappointing since there was no dressing or any other sauce with it. However, the fruit was fresh and the plating was nice.
S ordered the duck benedict just to compare the difference between this and the famous duck and waffle dish. The braised duck leg was tender but S couldn’t taste much flavour of it. Yet, it was pretty tasty once you cut the eggs and ate it with the yolk and the sauce next to it.
S was really amazed how crispy the duck was, and it was such a good match with the waffle and the maple syrup. Furthermore, the waffles were also crispy which was the type that S liked the most. S didn’t expect much from the food here before she visited since S thought it’s just a tourist restaurant. However, S was absolutely wrong! The food here is as good as the view!
Reservation is a must for this restaurant, otherwise, you can’t even get in. If you want to make a reservation, S suggests you book it a month earlier so that you might get the time slot you want. Since it opens for 24 hours, you can come here either with a lovely brunch or a nice dinner. Just be aware that there is a dress code requirement for this restaurant and a time limit for the table.
