Have a Thyme Out from the daily life!
When S saw the name of this place on Google map, she decided she had to visit there sometime. The restaurant is located on Nell Lane in West Didsbury. It’s just right next to Withington Community Hospital which is where the Makers Market is held on the last Sunday of each month.
It was quite busy and packed for a Sunday morning, and the interior gives a warm feeling. There is some outdoor seating which most people chose to sit since the weather was good that day. The person who served us was super friendly and had a good sense of humour, and the waiting time for the food was not too long.
There is differently pricing for eat in and take out on their menu. Banana Split Pancakes(£8.5), Full Didsbury(£9.95) and Twice cooked chips with truffle oil and Parmesan(£3.5) were the dishes S tried.
S doesn’t like caramelised banana in general, but the caramelised banana here really changed her mind. The Hobnob cheesecake on top gave the dish a little bit of a sour taste to balance the sweetness which was amazing. Moreover, the portion was bigger than expected, and you will definitely be full after eating it.
S can’t resist chips with truffle oil when it’s on the menu, especially for twice cooked chips. However, it was a little bit disappointing since the chips were a bit soggy, because S expected twice cooked chips would be super crispy. The best truffle chips S has had so far was from Eat New York in Northern Quarter.
Last but not least, the Full Didsbury which is basically a full English. The rosemary and sea salt mushroom was S’s favourite. Moreover, the homemade hash brown was good but it was not a typical hash brown you would expect. Again, the portion of the dish was huge and S couldn’t finish it but it sure was tasty and fresh.
Overall, it’s definitely a nice cafe where you can spend your weekend morning at. Furthermore, they also have a catering service if you wish to hire them for some events. S really likes this kind of independent cafe instead of a chain. S would definitely visit here again for some of their other dishes on the menu.
