A popular cosy tapas bar with amazing ambience
S went to Barcelona in October and stayed at the Gracia Garden Hotel, and La Petita was the restaurant recommended by the hotel staff. After checking the google reviews, S decided to give it a try. The La Petita is about 5 mins walk from the hotel and it’s only 2 mins walk from the Diagonal metro station. The front is rather subtle but not too hard to miss.
S arrived around 6 and it wasn’t too packed, yet by the time S left which was about 8 to 9, the whole place was very full. The staff can speak English which was a great relief for S since she can’t speak Spanish at all. The restaurant is not too big and the gap between tables is also quite close. There are lots of graffiti all over the wall which was pretty cool and you might find something interesting written there.
The staff were friendly and brought the menu straight away. S noticed that most restaurants in Barcelona S planned to visit didn’t have a website. Even if they had a website, and there was no English or much information in general. Therefore, S will also attach the menu below for your reference.

S ordered Catalana Tomato Bread (€2.5), Acorn Iberian Ham (€14), The Golden Petita (€15.5) and McPetita (€9). S has to mention the Sangria since it was quite different than S expected. The Sangria at La Petita was more sour than sweet, and the wine taste was quite strong as well.
The first dish was the Catalana Tomato Bread (€2.5) and the Acorn Iberian Ham (€14). S had been told she must try these 2 things when she visits Barcelona. The taste of Catalana Tomato Bread was just like its name. However, the taste was not the usual tomato but a slightly sweeter and not too strong tomato flavour compared the ones S is used to having. As for the Acorn Iberian Ham, S couldn’t really understand why people endorse it so much. The taste of Acorn Iberian Ham was not bad, but probably S didn’t have enough ham to be able to tell if the Acorn Iberian Ham was very good or not.
There was beef, grilled foie gras, fried egg and some mashed potato on the side in The Golden Petita. S wasn’t sure if she should order this dish due to the foie gras, because S knows there might be some animal cruelty depending where the foie gras came from. Yet S still decided to give it a go, since it was the first and it will be the last time S tries it. S didn’t understand why people love foie gras so much after she tried the grilled foie gras. This dish was alright but S wasn’t really amazed by it.
The McPetita was a really cute name and it was quite interesting as the staff asked how S wanted the burger meat. S asked for medium but it came very rare, moreover the fried potatoes next to it weren’t cooked through. S felt like it might be because it was quite busy that day so the kitchen was in a rush.
If you have a bigger group, the La Cava next to the La Petita shares the same kitchen but can accommodate more people. Overall, the food wasn’t too bad and S quite liked the atmosphere of the restaurant, and it opens untill quite late. However, S wouldn’t really recommend La Petita if you visit in Barcelona since there are so many good restaurants you can explore in Barcelona!
